Description
Nanna Ditzel is considered by many the queen of Danish design. She graduated from the School of Arts & Crafts in Denmark in 1946 and owned her own office together with her husband Jørgen Ditzel since then. She was a member of the board of the Furnituremakers’ Autumn Exhibition, the Georg Jensen Foundation, and the Danish Design Council. Nanna Ditzel won numerous awards with her designs which not only were functional and of quality but also had a maternal beauty unlike the design work of her male contemporaries. This ND82 sofa designed in 1952 was produced by Snedkergaarden in Denmark. It has a beautiful walnut frame the supports the floating backrest. Upholstered in the original aniline cognac leather, it has a very small scratch on the leather (not a tear) as shown in pictures. Excellent condition overall, a rare piece by the designer and highly collectible. Seat height is 15.5 inches.
