This vintage Mario Bellini “Camaleonda” mid-century modular sofa is a 1970’s original produced by C&B Italia. It has has been reupholstered in a light camel boucle fabric. The new upholstery fabric is durable with a subtle texture and the neutral color is adaptable to a multitude of interiors.
The additional smaller piece at the end of the sofa can also be used as an ottoman, as shown in the last image.
Translating to chameleon, Bellini’s idea was to create a sofa that can be be endlessly recombined to form new shapes depending on the mood or changing needs of the user. The modular structure is made from plywood and polyurethane foam and includes the signature tie rods and rings which allow the modules to be hooked and unhooked to combine into new shapes and designs. This particular model features spherical black plastic feet and a maker’s mark on the underside of the sofa.
